What is HAS or HPPSC?

The Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (HPPSC) is in charge of administering the state civil services examination. This examination serves as an entrance exam for administrative posts in the government of Himachal Pradesh and determines who will be the executing authority or the authority responsible for maintaining peace and order in the state government. These posts include SDM, DSP, BDO, and other similar positions. In addition to that, it provides support for the offices that make up the governmental administrative machinery. Every year, the HP government solicits applications for a wide variety of roles, including those already vacant, the ones expected to become vacant, and newly established jobs. Inspectors, sub-inspectors, tehsildars, local police, assistant professors, medical officers, HP forest service employees, and administrative service workers are some of the job descriptions that are available.

FUNCTIONS OF HPPSC

Article – 320 of the Constitution of India states the functions of Public Service Commissions.

  1. The Union and State Public Service Commission shall be responsible for conducting examinations for appointments to Union and State services, respectively.
  2. It shall also be the duty of the Union Public Service Commission, if requested by any two or more States, to assist those States in developing and implementing joint recruitment schemes for any services that require candidates with exceptional qualifications.
  3. On matters relating to recruitment to Civil Services and Civil Posts.
  1. Advising the Government on any matter referred to the Commission by the President of India.
  2. Appointments of officers on promotion/deputation/absorption.
  3. Framing and amendment of recruitment rules for various services and posts under the Government.

Can I Apply for the Exam? – HAS Eligibility Criteria

The Public Service Commission of Himachal Pradesh has established the minimal conditions that a candidate must meet in order to be eligible for the exam. The following are the requirements for an applicant to meet the HAS’s eligibility criteria:

  1. Must be a citizen of India.
  2. Must possess a bachelor’s degree from a recognized university that was established in accordance with the “Act of Central or State Legislature in India.”

AGE LIMIT

An applicant needs to be at least 21 years old and can’t be more than 35 years old. This age range is strictly enforced for General Category.

Candidates who belong to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, Persons with disabilities, Children /Grandchildren of Himachal Pradesh Freedom Fighters are eligible to have their maximum age limit relaxed by five years. This provision is included in the official announcement.

Age relaxation is also available to Ex-servicemen candidates of Himachal Pradesh for the post of Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service Combined Competitive Examination. The age of 45 years on the first day of January of the year in which the applications are invited by the Commission for Competitive examination is considered to be eligible for this relaxation of age requirement.

In addition, candidates that fall into categories other than General are granted a certain amount of exemption .However, those who are fluent in the state’s customs, traditions, and dialects will be given priority in the selection process.
